Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng pays official visit to CEIBS
December 22, 2023. Shanghai – Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng paid an official visit to CEIBS today to learn more about the school’s faculty, academic research, and international exchanges, accompanied by Shanghai Vice Mayor Xie Dong, Party Secretary of Shanghai Jiaotong University Yang Zhenbin, and CEIBS Chairman Ding Kuiling.
As the only business school jointly established by the Chinese government and the European Union (EU), CEIBS has successfully positioned itself among the world's leading business schools, with our MBA and Global EMBA programmes consistently being placed at the top of global rankings by Financial Times. Mr. Gong pointed out that CEIBS, an international business school rooted in China, has evolved into a distinctive educational hallmark of Shanghai through its relentless pursuit of academic excellence, and has become a vital bridge for facilitating economic and cultural exchange between China and Europe.
He also expressed the hope that CEIBS would closely align with Shanghai’s aspirations to become a global centre of economics, finance, trade, shipping, and science and technology innovation (areas also known as the “five centres”), attract more outstanding alumni to invest and start businesses in Shanghai, and contribute valuable insights as a world-leading think tank.
In addition, Mr. Gong urged CEIBS to play a greater role in cultivating high-calibre talent and deepening the integration of industry and education. He also emphasised the importance of enhancing international cooperation and exchanges and improving China’s soft power in order to more effectively disseminate Chinese management knowledge.
