Career Beginnings: First Steps into B2B Marketing

Travis's foray into the world of B2B marketing began at a startup, where the team worked to commercialize a live streaming platform. "The process was too complicated to generate income from general consumers, so we began producing live streaming programmes ourselves and collaborating with companies interested in new media marketing. This naturally led us into the B2B marketing/sales scene," Travis explains.

Travis is drawn to the creative aspects of marketing, finding joy in brilliant ideas, new marketing angles, and insightful perspectives. "Marketing is a field where amazing ideas frequently emerge, making it exciting to implement them for positive results," he says. B2B marketing, in particular, allows him to explore creativity within the business landscape of new markets.

Current Role: Navigating Challenges and Global Expansion at LinkedIn China

Since August 2021, Travis has worked as an Account Manager at LinkedIn China, supporting Chinese companies in their global expansion efforts through LinkedIn Marketing Solutions. "It’s an exciting time as more local companies go global, optimizing their branding and marketing strategies," he notes. However, the role comes with its challenges. "Introducing new ideas and methods that our customers haven't considered or implemented requires a deep understanding of various industries and their unique circumstances."

A Diverse Career Path: Embracing Opportunities and Continuous Growth

Travis's career has been marked by diversity, with roles in project management at Ever Tech and business development at AI solutions provider iKala. "I strive to discover fields that align with my strengths and interests, leading to a diverse career path," he shares. Rather than aiming for specific standout achievements, Travis believes in the value of cumulative experiences. "As Steve Jobs said, 'You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward.' I trust that my experiences will connect meaningfully in the future."

"Understanding how to communicate within the cultural context has been the most significant skill I've applied in my work," he reflects.
