These have been very busy 47 hours for 40 MBA 2015 students at CEIBS. From Thursday, November 14 1PM until Saturday, November 16 12PM 10 teams studied a case about polycarbonate market strategy for a global chemical and pharmaceutical company in order to present it to a panel of 3 judges on Saturday afternoon.

The International MBA Case Competition began at IESE Business School in Barcelona in 1996 and has become an anticipated annual event. The Spanish business school invites teams from 7 other leading business schools to an exercise which simulates the reality of a career in consulting. CEIBS students compete against their peers from London Business School, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Chicago Booth School of Business, INSEAD and other.

This year’s internal selection was organized by Management Consulting Club and garnered interest of 20% of students of MBA 2015 class. All the participants worked very hard to analyse the problem and come up with creative solutions. You could easily recognize them on CEIBS campus on Saturday morning from one look at their sleep-deprived faces. Finally, on Saturday afternoon each team faced the judge panel composed of Mrs. Ping Yi, Principal at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants’ Shanghai office, Mr. Ron Zheng, Senior Consultant at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and Professor Klaus E. Meyer, Professor of Strategy and International Business at CEIBS. Each team had 12 minutes to present their findings and recommendations and another 8 minutes to answer the questions from the judges.

Once the presentations were over and the judges finished their deliberations, all the participants gathered for the announcement of the team which will represent CEIBS in 19th International Case Competition in mid-February 2014. Finally the Spiced team won the ticket to Barcelona.
